Most new parents have been guilty of allowing new born babies to fall asleep next to them. After all what harm can this do? Is it a good practice to continue comforting or should we let them get used of sleeping alone? What should a new parent do when a child won't sleep soundly?Add your thoughts on this topic below.

I haven't had children but if they are fed, dry and comfortable i would lay them down in intervals, each time increasing it by 5 minutes. I saw this on TV and it works!

I've had three and all of them had some difficulties sleeping. What you say makes sense. A bit too late for me though they have all grown out of it lol.

I am a new father, she is 8 months old. What I have done and still do is just let her cry. If she starts crying I will of course get up and make sure everything is alright with her. If it is I just let her cry it out, personally I think it has helped. She now cries less and is very much happy with just being alone sometimes. Worked like a charm in my case.
